Newsflash 02: newbuilding China


On Monday 9 February, 2015 and on Tuesday 10 March, 2015 steel cutting ceremonies were held at Yangfan Group Co., Ltd, Zhejiang East Coast Shipyard, China, commencing the construction of two 2200 TEU specialized reefer container vessels (shipyard hull numbers: JT05 and JT06).

The steel cutting ceremony for JT06 has been attended by the Seatrade management: Mr. Buitenwerf (Seatrade CEO)  Mr. Ellefsen (Seatrade COO), Mr. Jansen (Managing Director of Seatrade Groningen), ICBC Bank representatives, site team, classification society (Lloyd's Register), shipyard representatives and broker. Mr. Hu Jianjiang, Managing Director and Head of the Credit Committee of ICBC was given the honour to push the startbutton to flash up the cutting torch and so started the cutting of the first steelplate for the vessel.

Principal particulars of the 2200 TEU specialized reefer container vessels are as follows:

  • Length over all: abt. 185.0 m
  • Length between perpendiculars: 176.0 m
  • Breadth (moulded): 30.0 m
  • Depth to main deck (moulded): 16.5 m
  • Draft design (moulded): 9.0 m
  • Draft scantling (moulded): 10.0 m

The vessels keel laying ceremonies are scheduled for 15 September 2015 and 25 October 2015, respectively and delivery in the second quarter of 2016.
